MBIE opens consultation on a draft Grocery Supply Code of Conduct
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has opened a consultation on a draft Grocery Supply Code of Conduct. This code is intended to ensure fair and transparent trading between suppliers and supermarkets, and to protect the interests of consumers. Submissions close 5pm on Wednesday 5 July 2023.
Public feedback wanted on improvements of building consent system
The New Zealand Government has announced a review of the building consent system to ensure it is fit for purpose and meets the needs of the construction industry. Submissions for the consultation close at 5pm on 7 August 2023. Following this consultation, MBIE will analyse the submissions received and work towards the next stage of the building consent system review – providing advice to Ministers on what options should be progressed as a priority and, following Government decisions on which changes to go forward with, the detailed design of options chosen.

Auckland Council passes proposal to sell 7% of airport shares
Auckland Council has passed a proposal to sell 7% of its shares in Auckland Airport, following Mayor Wayne Brown’s second compromise proposal which was passed 14 votes to six, with one abstention. The sale will provide $240 million in debt reduction and free up $36 million for “shovel-ready” infrastructure projects.
